Sunday evening I took my grandson to the beach to catch the sunset. He's just beginning to learn photography, so while he's here, I'm trying to teach him all I can.While we were waiting for the magic moment when the sun set, we spotted this kid riding the waves with a mini surf board. I liked the movement of the water, so I decided to make this shot from a high view point, leaving the cloudless sky out of the picture.
Riding these little waves looks pretty tough--the Gulf is usually pretty calm and doesn't get large swells like the Atlantic or, better yet, the Pacific. He's doing pretty well though. This boy and his two friends gave us plenty of action to shoot while we waited for the sunset, and another lesson for my grandson.

I really like the color palette, the angle you chose that eliminated the sky, and the placement of the elements in the composition. Very nice image.
I have to agree after seeing some of his work that your grandson definitely has an eye for things. It's great that he has you to encourage and refine his natural ability.
Thank you so much, Jim. I'm also having fun with my grandson, and teaching him is easy. He gets things right the first time and remembers everything I tell him. He's a smart kid!
